cannabisHet Nederlandse cannabisbeleid is de laatste jaren volop in beweging. Naast een intensivering van de aanpak van de ‘achterdeur’ (hennepkwekerijen, growshops) is er veel gaande rondom de ‘voordeur’: de coffeeshops. De landelijke ontwikkelingen hebben consequenties voor lokaal beleid, niet in het minst voor Amsterdam, waar ongeveer een derde van alle coffeeshops in Nederland is gevestigd.[i] Volgens de meest recente cijfers heeft Amsterdam 222 coffeeshops (2011). Een groot deel hiervan is gevestigd in het centrum, waarvan 76 in het 1012 gebied. De rest is onevenwichtig verspreid over de rest van de stad. Zuidoost heeft geen enkele coffeeshop, net als Westpoort (een stadsdeel met veel bedrijven en weinig bewoners). In andere stadsdelen zijn ze soms geconcentreerd in een relatief klein gebied, of liggen ze juist uit elkaar.
