Twaalfjarige kleindochter logeert bij ons.
Enthousiast vertelt ze dat haar klasgenoten het spannend vinden dat zij een paar dagen in Amsterdam verblijft. Die grote stad.
Tijdens het avondeten is ze wat stil.
‘Misschien moeten jullie bij ons in het dorp komen wonen’, zegt ze ineens, ‘in het verpleeghuis.’
Ietwat beteuterd kijken we op. Maar ze heeft het beste met ons voor.
‘Als je aan de voorkant zit, kijk je uit op het zwembad.’
